No two pieces of hand-dyed Aida are ever the same. Each piece is dyed by me in Australia using carefully selected colour combinations and small-batch dyeing techniques that create depth, movement, and subtle variation throughout the fabric. While plain white Aida has its place, hand-dyed fabric allows the background to become part of the finished design. Swirls, mottling, colour shifts, and subtle texture can add atmosphere, interest, and personality before a single stitch is made.

Some of my favourite projects have been stitched on hand-dyed fabrics. A black silhouette design stitched on denim blue creates a completely different feel to the same design stitched on white. Floral patterns, gnomes, Halloween designs, fantasy themes, seasonal projects, and decorative stitching can all take on a new life when paired with the right fabric.

Each dye lot is unique. While colours within a design family remain similar, every piece develops its own pattern, movement, and character during the dyeing process. That's part of what makes hand-dyed fabric so special.

Not exactly. Each piece is hand-dyed in small batches, so colour placement, mottling, swirls, and intensity will vary slightly. This is part of what makes every piece unique.

What fabric brands do you use?

Is this suitable for full coverage projects?

Yes. However, many stitchers prefer hand-dyed fabrics for partial coverage projects where the colour and pattern remain visible as part of the finished design.
